what do yall guys usally charge for planting shrubs

  • #2
Figure it based on your hourly time estimate, but only show them the final price.

I would not have flat rates for each shrub planted. There are too many variables.

Round your time up to the nearest hour. If they don't like your price, then you should just pass on the work.

If they bought the shrubs already and just want you to plant them, they're probably doing that because they think the lawn guy is going to drop them in the ground for a few bucks and they are going to save gobs of money. First it's 4 shrubs for a low figure, then they buy more, then want the same price. Eventually they have all new landscaping and paid you $200 or so. Unless you really need to work and money, don't be taken on these things unless it's a long term customer. Those I will treat well.

If this is for a mowing customer, how long does it take you to mow their lawn? How much money do you get in that time frame? Bill them the same for the shrub planting.

            Yo

Industry standard in my area is 2.5 times the retail price of the shrub. This includes a one year Guarantee. Most 3 gallon plants retail for $ 10.00, so $ 25.00 is the installed price. For smaller jobs a trip charge is also added.

Bid the job a little more then you want. Then you have sommer wiggle room. You still make money, the client thinks they got a great deal.
