  • What covers

    Do you all use?

I am looking at some type of engine covers so that I don't have to break out the large tarp to cover everythign.

Please if you say a Plastic WalMart Bag I will have to slap you.

I want something a little more professional looking.

It is more for when the trailer is in my driveway and I am away and it is nt being used and might rain?

    Thansk guys,

    T

If a little rain hurts your trimmers then I suggest you buy a different brand...................................
Did I mention an enclosed trailer works wonders..............

i personally either unload the trailer and put the equipment in the garage or i have a 20' x 20' tarp i cover it with.

i'm still working on getting the enclosed trailer.

I have a tarp with a big hole in it. I might see if they someone has an eyelet punch and make my own out of this old tarp.

I remember back in the days, I tried to keep all my stuff dry too. I would literally stop at a gas station when it started to rain and pull a commerciual tarp over everything, then bungee the sides of the tarp down using the grommets.

But ya know what? Eventually I said "this isn't a hard enough rain to bother with covering. More and more until I stopped all toghether.

Guess what? It makes no difference anymore. It doesn't effect the equipment as much as you think. Actually, I see no ill effects at all. 2 of my employees have been with me for 12-14 yrs and even now they will occasionally joke with me and say "Uh oh, rain, let's pull over and wrap it all up." I just ask them if they want to get fired today.

Well, I like to button it all up when I am not mowing.

I don't mow daily and work a FT job as a firefighter so when I am at work and it pours I cannot even attempt to cover anything.

Yeh, I know what you mean. Trust me, I use to be a bit nuts about those things. Overly so. As mentioned, I still have employees make fun of me about it.

But it really doesn't matter too much if it sits and rains on it for hours and hours.

We put all equipment in the shop at the end of the day. Many days in the spring they might pull the whole truck in dripping wet from rain all day. I've never had any issues. No rusted out mufflers, nothing like that.

Now if it just sat out in one place on a trailer for weeks with not much use? Well yeh, I couldn't quite deal with that.

Not bad but I haven't had any time to fix it up like I want. Time flies, that was actually over 3 yrs ago and it was a purchase.

i always thought about doing that but i've never seen anyone else do it so i figured i'd look stupid. plus i never thought it was THAT important to pull over and wrap it all up.

i just cover things once i get home if there calling for rain that night, or i put everything in the garage. if i'm out and rains i'm sheot out of luck. if it's a hard rain and gonna keep raining the rest of the day i'll call it quits and go home and dry things out running the equipment for a couple min. otherwise it'll dry with me using it the rest of the day.
