i still don't get how the guys on TV just grab these guys with no problem. i'm thinking they get the snake drunk or something. i was cutting my yard saturday and came across one when i was trimming the ditch line. i stopped the trimmer and reached out to grab this guy and he tried to bite me. i regrouped and grabbed him by the tail. no problem there, until he tried to bite me again. i finally gave up and let him go. i did get one last year that i was able to show my little girl and put on video. i guess steve-o ain't no croc-hunter.

I pick them up by head then I reach down to the other side of the shovel and pick up the rest of the snake.

I have killed 5 already this year and the kids killed one on our steps. The 5 I killed were all on one 10 acre property, seen a total of 10-12 between me and my employees. Yet to see a black snake... Just hope no one gets bitten

Becarefull what snakes you kill. Some snakes in some states or countries might be protected by law's. So if you are caught killing one the is protected you could get a fine or put in jail or both depending on you area's laws.

Florida has some funny Laws about snake control. You can catch or kill poisonous snakes without any license but you must kill them in a human way. Water moccasin and other snakes can not be drown legally. Minnow traps baited with frogs or small mice just above the water or half way in, are very effective. To just lower the trap into water is the easiest way to kill the snake but illegal. To move the trap or remove a live snake takes a venomous snake license that is very hard to get. To shoot the snake in the trap messes up the trap. I have caught many Water Moccasins this way. I do Aquatic weed control on ponds, so I get calls for this services.

Couple of weeks ago I had a customer call with a rattle snake under his house. Glue boards is how he caught it. Once it was on the glue board the customer whacked it with a shovel and threw it away. He only need me to tell him how. I told him to buy a feeder mouse from the pet store and set it in the middle of a circle of glue boards. He made a cage out of hardware cloth. It only took one day and the mouse lived.

Thats an awful story. I'd probably do the same to protect my kids/dog but in general I think glue boards are pretty horrific. Saw a thing on TV where restaraunts in NYC catch rats that way and just throw the whole out. Rats are of course still breathing.

Anyway, so far this year I've seen 2 small garter type snakes, 1 huge rat snake, and no venomous snakes. Only water moccasin I've ever seen in the wild went through the reels of my fairway unit. Snake nuggets.
