  • anyone ever used the trenchblade

Yesterday I saw this edger blade on the web that you can put on a stick edger and use it to trench bedlines for straw and mulch installs. Has anyone ever used it? what did you think about it?

looks like it would be good for re-defining. Echo was originally gonna come out w/ something like this (their blade looked like a mini-version of the one from a Brown edger) and I got to demo one. In hard soil, it was tough to use because there was no weight on the blade (was on a 31cc machine) to keep pressure on the blade. Around here, this 'soil' dries up so fast, you can barely get a hand shovel through it.

I'd even like it fo regular edging. I like a decently wide edge which a typical metal blade just doesn't do.

There was a guy around here who made his own reverse threaded bolt and ran 2 blades side by side. Looked really good too.

            How much are those?

            I've tried these.

They worked good but I'm not willing to pay over $3ea. I can maintain a good edge with the trimmer, now.

Geez, gotta give them stick edgers another use because they were a waste of money to begin with......

                  I Gotta Bring This Back..............

i've been doing my own thing since i saw that video. here's the deal....i take my echo stick edger and put two blades on it. you have to tighten it down cause the cotter pin won't fit. it does the same as the video, just run it around the edges. you come back with your trimmer and trim flat away from the edge and you have your angle. end result is a nice edge. to make it real good, just hit it again with the trimmer like normal. works for me............no big $$$ bed edger involved and the same results. also no clean-up since there are no clumps.
