    We've had some commercial clients give us a bit of a price squeeze. Lots of people are trying to pull back money this year.

    One of our smaller clients tried cutting so much that I had to actually drop the contract.

    It's going to be an interesting year. I hope everyone does okay.

        If you're really feeling the pinch...

        Why don't you try going door-to-door on the days you ain't got nothing to do and put your hick-ass charisma to use to line up some work.

            Funny how it is always the ones that make big buck are always the first to cry poverty. The first one I lost this year was a lawyer. I lost one commercial also. They never bother to even reply to my letter asking if or if not they wanted to continue service for this year. May be i pissed them off. Last year I took the account at the end of the season on an on call basis to get my foot in the door. Only cut it two or three times at the end of the year. This year I told them they needed to be on some short of contract to receive my services. No more on call work.

                            i had to pay those estimated taxes back in the early 2000's and i worked for somebody else. it has nothing to do with your name or business. although a business is more scrutinized than a hillbilly.

                              Estimated Taxes

                              Estimated tax is the method used to pay tax on income that is not subject to withholding. This includes income from self-employment, interest, dividends, alimony, rent, gains from the sale of assets, prizes and awards. You also may have to pay estimated tax if the amount of income tax being withheld from your salary, pension, or other income is not enough.

                              Estimated tax is used to pay both income tax and self-employment tax, as well as other taxes and amounts reported on your tax return. If you do not pay enough through withholding or estimated tax payments, you may be charged a penalty. If you do not pay enough by the due date of each payment period you may be charged a penalty even if you are due a refund when you file your tax return.

                              Who Must Pay Estimated Tax

                              If you had a tax liability for 2008, you may have to pay estimated tax for 2009.

                              General Rule
                              You must pay estimated tax for 2009 if both of the following apply.

                              You expect to owe at least $1,000 in tax for 2009 after subtracting your withholding and credits.
                              You expect your withholding and credits to be less than the smaller of;
                              90% of the tax to be shown on your 2009 tax return, or
                              100% of the tax shown on your 2008 tax return. Your 2008 tax return must cover all 12 months.
                              Sole proprietors, partners, and S corporation shareholders - You generally have to make estimated tax payments if you expect to owe tax of $1,000 or more when you file your return. Use Form 1040-ES, Estimated Tax for Individuals, to figure and pay your estimated tax. For additional information, refer to Publication 505, Tax Withholding and Estimated Tax.
