  • You Boys Make The Call.................

i done lost alot of business this year, but i got this one that is driving me crazy with her watering deal. she has been with me for 4 years and usually the issues start in late july and i just do my best. however, this year it started 4 weeks ago and has gotten worse each week. today i sunk. the mower sunk and i sunk. my footprints had water rising up. the mower tires were throwing water, trimming was mud being thrown. we last had a shower 9 days ago. i have told this obby women over and over. her obby boss was a customer 3 years ago and i dropped his azz for the same reason but i had alot more yards then. now i don't and will probally lose another b/4 long due to selling their home. this is my first cut on thursday and it just sucks. i also do her apps which don't matter cause this beotch washes everything away. this is a $37 cut with $50 apps and i have the guy across the street full service as well. your thoughts.........................

Can you see earth move a foot from the tire when mowing???

#1) Offer to re-program her controller. Maybe she doesn't know how???

#2) If that fails, do as I did on one of mine, shut off the water supply. :alien::alien::alien:

I had a customer that kept complaining about the weeds. I had sprayed about three times but still problem with weed control. I mow and spray across the street too and sprayed the first app on the same days as this customer and they had no weeds. I finally figured out that they were watering like everyday. WHY I don't know. So the last weed spraying I went to the spinkler cut off and shut it off. I agree with mastermower:

Mowing with soggy soil compacts the ground, explain that to her. No one ever needs to water every day.

What they said. Some people kill their plants with love and if it aint soaked, its "dying".

One of my occassional customers called me 2 years ago convinced that they had an irrigation leak in the backyard. Turns out it they were overwatering on a shallow soil profile and the excess water had no where to go after hitting the shallow hardpan. I reprogramed the controller and problem was solved.

          Yo Steve-O.....

I planted some annuals for one of my older customers. I left a short section of house at his house so I could water the annuals when I am there to mow every week. Dude kept complaining how they aren't growing much.

Why? B/C anyone he had over at his house he'd send out to give the flowers some water. End result: saturated soil. These annuals are begonias and impatients. They don't like wet soil. :alien::alien::alien:

I took the hose away and will keep it in me truck. I'm back in control. :alien::alien::alien:

fired is the right choice, after the talks, Then I would cut around all wet areas and when asked to cut tell her it will be extra to trim it. Just double the price and then explain to her again that it could be avoided.

Just wanted to give my 1 cent for all its worth.

Don't feel bad some people get their minds twisted by a neighbor or another so called lawn professional long before you show up on the scene. All you can do is try and give them the best advice. I've found that making everything sound as though it benefits the client works 99.9% of the time. I will avoid mentioning any of my own benefits in the conversation as to keep them from speculating my advices true origins. In this "all about me" world we live in, it stands to figure if you keep the focus on "them" you'll get what you want.
