    Message For Sporty.............

here in hooterville leaves are a big problem. if you live in the richmond city limits they will set aside days for curb p/u as long as the homeowner gets them in big piles at the curb. now out in my county they will pick them up for free as long as you go down and buy the county's bag to put them in. alot of folks in my hoods with major leaf problems pay the local guys to suck them up at the curb. the ones i have let me do it with my mulch kit as they have learned if they let me do it once a week they can actually save $$$ vs a true clean-up fee. not sure what they offer in northern virginia where mr. safari is located but i do understand his point on traffic issues. if you have never driven in and around the washington, dc metro area or for that matter up around new york then you just don't know what traffic is.

i have no idea, i'm not an accountant and don't care to be. thats why i hire one, because i know absolutely nothing about any of that stuff. i could barely get my own taxes done when i was an employee at the different jobs i've had through out my life before i started my own business.

i just follow what my accountant tells me to do. i pay the amounts he tells me, when he tells me and send them where he tells me to send him.

i have no desire or interest in knowing or doing any of that sheot, thats why i hired him.

i don't recall saying anything about traffic

i did comment on using actual bags for leaves instead of either dumping them at the curb or putting them in a truck bed or trailer and hauling them away.

i usually haul everyone's leaves away during a normal fall season. this season however has been irregular here and sometimes i have filled my whole truck bed with one property. to avoid that i have been leaving them at the curb for the city to pick up since everyone in our city pays for this service in there taxes.

i don't know about the leaves in hooterville or what you consider a big problem to be. i do know fort wayne IN has there share of leaves. i come on a weekly basis for pretty much every client i service. sometimes this ends up being cheaper than doing actual FCU's and sometimes it ends up costing more.

it is however easier for me to come weekly and it keeps the clients properties looking nice.

I was curious just how many you could get in the truck, Trailer and Equipment and having to make trips while paying help by the hour to sit for any time costs money. (not a slap in your face, but was curious) I use the 48 wb, Billygoat Push Blower, 3 BP Blower, carry 15 gallons reg gas, 5 gallons 2 cycle so I need truck and trailer no room for leaves.

Some places here in Fairfax County have curb side pick up paid by their Property Tax (pile at curb at set times no bags)

Home Owners can take to landfill and drop off 5 bags without paying anything extra. after 5 bags they charge by weight.

All Commercial Trash Services in the county offer Wednesday Yard Debris Pick up, March - December, the for Christmas Trees after Jan 1. (No Extra Charge) but limit to 25 bags each week, so many people spead it out over the neighborhood. all goes to recycle, rest of the trash is incinerated. (placed in clear bags) I use 39 Gallon Bags at Home Depot, 70 bags $15.00 and I use roughly 210 bags each season. (Some Communities have a contract through HOA fees, others like myself pay the company directly $26.00 monthly and that covers Trash 2 days a week, Recycling and Yard Debris)

Comercial Companies, Tree and Lawn have to be permitted (charge) and charged by weight (another charge) and unless your big enough to have just a Leaf Vac and Dump Truck (1 person operation) to pick up piles and dump to prevent blowing crew from sitting for an hour each trip idle (cost more money)

I dont know what the topography is in Indiana (Flat and broad, not many trees) just my vision, I have been here all my life, but where I am is Old and Established, lots of Big Oaks, Maple, Tulip Poplar, Bradford Pears and Hickory, plus many more varieties. We are also this year contending with lots of rain, and the grass still growing, so its slow going.

Traffic is misserable, rush hour starts around 3pm and goes til 7-8, am starts at 5am and goes til 9-10, we sit right off 95 and have many arteries that people use to bypass all the work on the beltway 95/495, going to inlaws it took me 1 hour to go 6 miles and that was a weekend day 1 pm, just about as bad as Hampton Roads near Virginia Beach.

on an off topic thing our Car Washes Hire people in halfway houses, so Customer Service leaves a little to be desired. again not a slap in your face, but shows what different perceptions of the different areas can be mis interpreted.

if you google earth these streets it will give you an idea of what I deal with, I would be interested to see what others have to get a better picture.

            Wilderness way, Fairfax Station VA
            Oak Leather Dr, Burke VA
            starr jordan dr, Annandale VA

the system I have seems to work best for me, I have been refining it over the past 9 years, it still can be perfected, but you only get 1 shot each year to try.

no doubt you gotta do what works best for you. i just figured most places have a compost site or 2 around there city and i certainly know it's quicker to dump leaves into a truck bed or trailer than put them in bags. at least for me it is.

i have a long bed truck with a truck box in it, i pull an enclosed 12 foot trailer with a 36" wb with a trac vac attached, a 52" toro grandstand, 2 gallons of regular gas, 4 gallons of mixed gas, a trimmer, stick edger and a bp blower.

in the pick up bed goes a few rakes, my bagger for the 52" and half of a 55 gallon plastic drum. i have a truck unloader and once the bed is so full i can't keep those things in the bed they go in the trailer.

in a normal fall season i can start out the season getting all 8-10 clients leaves in the truck bed and only dump in the evening on my way home. about mid season i have to start dumping at lunch and then again on the way home and towards the end of the season i can go back to dumping at the end of the day.

my current method of removing leaves is to put the bagger on the 52" and just mow the whole property never emptying the bagger, it starts mulching things up once it's full. then i empty and make a second pass collecting whats left. if it's still thick after the first pass i use the 36" with the trac vac. so i never deal with hauling away whole leaves, there always shreaded pretty good so i can get a lot in the truck bed.

It is sad to admit the fact that people want to be healthy in the future not at the expense of their own strength, but at the expense of medicines and biotechnologies. But the state of health of people depends on their lifestyle. This is a scientifically recognized fact. A person is obliged to master the art of a healthy life, to learn how to strengthen his health. Many, unfortunately, do not want to admit that playing sports can preserve and support not only physical, but also moral health for many years. They don't understand why they need to play sports. And this is easy to prove.

Firstly, any physical exercise has a healing and preventive effect. This must be remembered, because modern people move little, have minimal physical activity. For example, a student spends his whole day in a sitting position (lessons at school, doing homework, time at the computer, TV). As a result of this lifestyle, the muscles atrophy, do not work at full strength.

Secondly, sport improves health, gives a healthy heart, lungs, controls blood pressure and helps to avoid blood clots. Of course, we are talking about classes without unreasonable overloads. Remember that physical activity always maintains the tone of the body. For example, after running a couple of kilometers in the morning, you will not feel tired all day, the school day will pass without signs of drowsiness, and your vitality will increase.

Thirdly, playing sports can strengthen the spirit of a person. People become purposeful and responsible, learn to go to a certain goal, properly organize themselves and their time. In addition, they correctly assess their strengths and capabilities, set priorities. As a result, their self-esteem rises.

Fourth, a person involved in sports increases intelligence. And there is no need to be ironic. Thanks to sports, concentration of attention improves, a person is able not only to learn a lot of material, but also to skillfully apply it in life. He knows what it means to work to the fullest. Even L.N. Tolstoy said that it is necessary to shake yourself up physically in order to be morally healthy.

Fifthly, sport is a way of self-expression, gaining self-confidence. Not everyone can be excellent students and shine in front of the class with original solutions to problems. Success in sports will help to acquire in some cases the desired recognition. Moreover, sports activities produce various chemicals, for example, endorphin (“hormone of joy”) or adrenaline (“hormone of stress”), which give a person full-fledged feelings of happiness and joy.

Sixthly, how you look also plays an important role. And a nice bonus of sports is a beautiful body. If you go in for sports, you will be slim, without excess weight, which “spoils a lot of blood” in your school years.

Thus, you need to go in for sports in order to become healthy, dexterous and strong, to cultivate endurance and endurance in yourself, to learn how to overcome difficulties and set new tasks. People love sports because they love life. Go in for sports, and your life will change for the better!
