  • tell me what you guy would do, your thoughts

Here is the deal my mother and father have to change lifestyles due to a health issue and I am currious what you would do.

for 6 to 8 months my mother wont be able to drive and she drives 80 miles a day north to work for$140,000.oo a year but no ins.

my father drives 80 miles west to his job with ins benifits but pay sucks at 280.00 a week after ins.

my mom leaves at 4:30 am and gets home at 8:30pm
dad leaves at 11:00and gets home at 11:30pmbut works the farm until midnight.
so one job had to go....
I bought dad all the equipment and trailer for him to be able to drive mom to the city the work all day and bring her home.
now I have alot of personal business in this town that averages 25-35 bucks but its in just 1 neigborhood. i told dad to go 15 bucks a week and just take his time. He mowed for me in this town 5 years ago and knows the work involved .He averaged 8 to 12 minutes a lawn back then.
once he covers his weekly pay and ins needs I told him go 35 bucks on new lawns to make more money with less work but to cover his expenses first.

I know its not regular business rates but its me looking out for family. as for the equipment cost its just $3000 of business investment and a write off if nothing else to me. We bought the equipment wednesday and the cost have been recovered.

Is that 80 miles one way? If so thats a really long commute for the standar commuter. That said, 140k a year is a good ammount of money and well worth a long commute, but not if your 75 and working 70 hours a week.

There are all kinds of extenuating circumstances like the one above, its not always about $. I think its a great thing your looking out for your parents.
