  • I am killing our lakes...

Last week, after mowing 3 adjacent lots, a neighbor came up to me while I was loading. Before i could get my mower shut off he was laying into me. He wanted to inform me that i am polluting the lakes by blowing all the clippings on the road. I was surprised at this comment, being i never blow out of the customer's lawn, and took a walk with the guy around my customers' lawns. In 150 feet of road,i had about a 2 foot square area where i to do, to get out between a tree on his property and my customer's shed. He then pointed to a yard i don't do and said if i did like that again, he would call in the bureau of business and have my license removed.
I was temped to say something about his weekly fertilizing/ sprayings. I don't have the equipment/license to spray, so one guy in town specializes in that. Have you ever had non-customers do that to you. Now instead of the small area i blew into the street, i blow 100 of clippings onto his yard-whatever he wants.
By the way, I am a conservaiionists with the NRCS, and board member of our lakes assiocation. I think i know about phosperous levels and such.

    Sorry its so long.

Just realize that some people are weird. You have nothing to worry about. I would have kept calm for as long as possible, but pointing towards another lawn that we didn't even do would have pushed me towards defense.

I was mowing a commercial account where we are not suppose to pick up trash. Now I know that sounds dumb, but the managers are suppose to, and we were told that if we do it, eventually, they never will. They are never that bad anyway. So, we were mowing and I pushed a can out of the mowers way. Well this guy that worked for that city stopped and told me I HAVE to pick it up. I explained my situation. He said "I'm gonna go eat lunch, if I come back and see that can, I am going to call the police and site you for littering."

I was nice up to that point, then I started laughing at him and explained that 'I' did not litter anything. I said "Ya might as well call the police now, cause this can and that one over there will be here on this PRIVATE property when you get back."

Then fired up the mower and kept going.

    Some people are nuts.
