Is a good idea to have several sets of blades. Then you can change them out fairly quickly, and be back in business. Then on rainy day or slow day, spend time getting them sharpened.

Just a matter of preference. Some people use 1 set at a time. Others have a set for each day. I usually have 2-3 sets for each mower.

If you can afford them buy an extra set. That way you are not in a rush to sharpen the other.

          You should have 3 sets.
          One on mower.
          One in your truck.
          One at your shop.

I carry 3 sets of blades for every primary mower. One on the mower and 2 as spares in the toolbox on the truck. Things happen from time to time that will damage a blade, and you will need to replace it before continuing to cut. If you don't have spares, your going to be wasting time running to buy new ones instead of mowing.

I usually buy several cases of blades at prior to the begining of the season. This usually gives me enough to run all season. This gives me a chance to have enough blades on hand for what ever comes up and gives me the opportunity to sharpen and balance the blades when I have a down day or on weekends.

I usually get a case of standard high lift blades and a case of Gator blades. Buying by the case saves me money in the long run due to the discounts I can get when I buy in quantity. In a case I get 10 blades so I have 3 sets and a spare.
