How tuff is it to grind stumps and what the best way to do it. How far do you go into the ground, and how long will it take to do three stumps about a foot thick...

After you arrive at the location with equipment "in place" a stump 12 inches in diameter and about 6 inches stump height will take about (15 minutes) to grind down to 2 or 3 inches below ground level.

Thanks Phil, I plan on using a Rental Center's stump grinder. I went yesterday and they werent open but noticed a little machine that said stump grinder by it. I know there are diferent kinds but will this little thing do. Any tips on grinding? Does any one purchase there own?Comment

Unless you're in the tree bizz ... where stump removal is kinda "standard" after take down, you may not be able to generate enough business thru regular advertising to justify buying a "serious" stump grinder.Comment

I agree unless you use a stump grinder all the time rent it. The good part about it is if it breaks just return it to the rental place. Add the price of the rental into your quote. I have a friend who owns a stump grinder buisness and I always just give him the work. One stump is not worth my time.Comment
