Guido,
I think you have a very good idea, but what happens if one of us has a problem that is too small to post here? I would like to have someone that I can go to to answer all of my little questions. I know that all of you have alot to do and probably don't have time to answer some newbies questions all of the time, but would anyone be willing to do this? Just asking.

I have only been doing this for a little over two years. I should be able to help with some of your questions. You can email me any time and I am more than willing to help or let you know I can't help. Feel free.

Mr. Outlaw,
I can't speak on behalf of the lawnservicing forum (except in the sponsor section) but from my point of view, you can ask any question you like and I'll try to answer it, and many others here will probably do the same. For example ... I have posted at this forum hundreds of responses (so far) but at other forums I have answered over 5,000 questions and have (copied and saved) every answering post (I ever made) for future reference ... because the same questions will appear many times. I'm willing to answer any question that I can, no matter what it is. Might take me a day or two to get back to you in some cases.

Hello Outlaw:

If you Need to Ask a Question Just go For it, No Matter What? You Should get it Answered, It Might Not be Exacly What You Want to Hear but I Bet it gets Answered!

Talk about Learning, Listening to Others & Flat Out didn't Want to ask Questions. I was Very Guilty of it?

LOL, I was in Business for almost 3 years & I've Never Seen Anybody Run Gas Powered Hedge Clippers Before? My Dealer Kept Trying to Talk Me into Buying a Pair & I Flat out Refused, Because I Didn't Know any Better!

The First Time I saw an Employee of Mine Run them for the First Time Even for Himself, I Couldn't Believe it? This Guy was Trimming Faster than 3 With Hand Clippers?

LOL, Nobody Wanted to Trim Bushes with Hand Clippers. Then After I Purchased Everybody Wanted to Run the Gas Hedge Clippers & Nobody Wanted to Clean Up then?

That's the Day I Learned to NOT to be Afraid to Ask Anbody Anything, Because I Wanted to Get Out of the Dark Ages! No Matter What the Cost was!

Very Few Folks Were Very Helpfull Back then, But I Stll Met the People (Competition) & The Ones that Did Help, Well I Remembered them!

outlaw, I understand where your coming from. I know there are several people (and I'm one of them) that you can e-mail anytime with a question if you want to discuss something away from the forum. I may not get back to you that day, but I will get back to you.

No problem!

My e-mail is there as well. Anytime.

But I don't think any question is so trivial that it can't be asked here.

Well.....don't ask if you can put water in the gas tank. Other than that, ask away.

There is so much to learn about this business and I reckon it'll take from three to four years to get your company under control. During this first four years there's little doubt that you'll have to master these skills ... Job Estimating ... Selling ... Management ... and Work Production. Work production you pretty much learn by doing it and applying a lot of common sense in the process. With job estimating you have to know costs and price ... what cost? ... materials, labor and overhead ... the cost of time, what it costs to put a man in the field for any amount of time. Selling? ... that's first because if you don't learn how to sell you never get the chance to use your job estimating skills because you were not asked to bid the work. Before selling comes advertising methods because without advertising you never get the chance to sell. It all goes around in a circle.

What to learn in sequence?

1. Advertising
2. Selling skills
3. Job estimating, pricing
4. Management, control of operations
5. Work production, efficient methods, quality work outcomes

Hey everyone,
Thanks to all of you. It's nice to know that you all will be there for the new guys when we need you. You don't find that everywhere. Most industries guard their secrets, not share them. I will be posting alot of questions, so thanks again.
