  • what do u guys think?

i was thinking that it might be a good idea to get in touch with neighborhood associations and try to advertise in there local news letters . good or bad idea ? and how would i go about getting in touch with the leaders? thanks

Sounds like a good idea, and other than asking one of the local residents the only other way I can think of getting in touch with the association would be perhaps contact the real estate agent who deals with the property and ask them for contact information.

I think it is a good idea and worth a try. It should help you to get you foot in the door in specific neighborhoods you may be trying to target.

Every home owners association has a meeting every month. Instead of advertising in their newsletter go to the meeting and talk to the people. I work for several home owners associations and their president lets me talk at the meetings. There I can talk to people about my services and set up appointments and hand out buisness cards after the meeting. They also have a membership drive every year and I donate a $30 gift certificate to them to give away as a door prize. When ever I can not make it I send my wife in my place and they usually love it when she is there. The good thing about it is while I am cutting thier common areas everybody honks and waves to me, by talking to them I have developed a relationship with them. Most neighborhoods in my area have a bulletian board at the entrance to the subdivision and they advertise when and where there meetings are.

grasschaser has the best idea. if your in with the homeowner associations your name spreads like crazy. be sure to do very good work, even if it take a little longer. your work is good advertising. also if there is a model home for a builder in the neighborhood sometimes they will tell you that if you cut that lawn for free, they will hand out your business card. its well worth it, because they only will reccomend you and not anyone else because you area doing there lawn for free.
the associations news letter is a great place to advertise because its something that people actually look at. not like a flyer in the mail which goes straight to the garbage.
