  • New mower question

This might be a stupid question.I just got a new tiger cub ztr about 2 weeks ago the deal told me after 10 hours to change the oil and hydrolic fluid ,filter. Im already at 10 hours but cant get to the dealer to get the supplies because they lost the owners manual and had to order a new one, so i dont know how much and what to use.Plus one truck is down in the shop so im busier then normal and cant make the drive across town right away.My question is will waitng till about 20 hours hurt the new mower or should it be fine? I can definetly have it done by the time it hits 20.

    10 hours

Atleast 50 hours would give it some time to "break in"..

    engine oil 10w-30

    hydro oil 20w-50

Mobil 1 for hydros 15w-50 red cap.

aount you need.....when it reads full on the dip stick.

Engine aprox 2 qt, hydro might be 4-6 qt...

BTW your dealer must suck if he don't know what oil to put in your mower. I don't think I would have bought a mower from them.

Call Scag, they will be glad to help you over the phone, or www.scag.com

The hydro fluid is motor oil.

Most likely what I posted above.

buy a bunch of quarts and that's that. You'll need them later anyways.

Exmarks hold about 1 qt DC holds 9.5 qt's Bobcat holds less than 8 qt.

Buy 10 qt's you need more run to the store again.

You only need to check and make sure the 20w50 oil in the hydraulic reservior is within 3 inches of the top of the filler neck tube. The oil doesn't need to be changed until after 500 hours of operation. The motor along with a filter change will hold about 1 &3/4 quarts. Just check the dip stick after about a quart and a half and make sure it is up to the full mark .Remember not to screw the dip stick in the threads when checking the oil level. I run straight 30 weight in mine. This info comes straight out of the scag manual ,I have the same model.

Just a word of warning. We bought our Tiger Cub new this year and have had some problems with it. It's got about 100 hours right now and is in the shop because it is running really badly.

Anyway, in case you have future problems, make sure you do all the proper service as required in the manual so if you have problems with yours you can get them taken care of. I can just see your dealer telling you that future problems were caused because you didn't have your 10 hour oil change or your 50 hour service.

If our mower turns out to have a serious problem, I'll post so you guys with tiger cubs can be aware of it.

Is the problem engine related or something else on the machine
