I always use the hard surface to run the wheel on.

Same here. I always try and run the wheel on the hard surface. There are times, though, when you willhave to put it in the grass too.

The hard surface ,sometimes a car or something might be blocking the curve and i'll do some on the grass.
All in all 99.9% is on the cement part

Yea ,I use the cement when ever possible, but lately I have noticed a few people using the grass and I thought that maybe doing it that way would always keep the stick at the same angle which would enable you to keep the same wheel height all the time where as ,sometimes when I walk in the street and edge on raised curbs I need to adjust the wheel.

Almost always on the cement. You have better control and it rolls easier.

Wheel on cement...when not on cement I typically don't use the wheel at all...I "free hand it".

Don't use the wheel at all. Free hand it like a trimmer. I can move much faster and have more control. I removed the wheel as soon as I purchased it.

                      I use a line trimmer.

But when I had a stick edger, used the wheel on a hard surface when possable.
