Man, I can't believe I did this:
A girl I work with at my day job has a graphic design degree, and togather, we created this awsome brochure for my business'. I printed 1000 and had them "C" folded at office max for $20.00 plus tax. So I only have about $35.00 into them so far.
I spent a couple hours putting string on a couple hundred so I could hang them on people's door knobs. This is the first "Flyer" distro I've done, so I'm pretty excited/nervous to put them out. Today on the way home from my day job I stopped at a developement I've been intrested in doing work in and put a brochure at every house (about 30 houses).
When I was done, I figured I wouldn't get any calls since most people seemed to mow the homes themselves and a local landscaper lived in the dev (looked like a scrub to me).
So, I'm at home eating dinner getting ready to watch the Fairly Odd Parents (awsome cartoon) and my cell rings. I pick it up, and it's one of my friends pranking me in this wacky arabian accent. I said "What's up" in my normal enthusiastic tone, and he kept going on about "Free Estimates" and saying my companies name. I played along for about 20 seconds, then I started to get pissed because he wouldn't stop the accent. So I quit talking until he started talking normal. The problem is, he never dropped the accent. After a minute or so, he finally hung up.
I waited for him to call back, but he never did. When I checked the number he called from I noticed the prefix was not his, so I got up on the internet and went to this sweet web site that will give you the name and address of any listed phone number. When I put the phone number in, it came up as a resident of the developement I just put my brochures in!!
I'm so pissed!! Luckily I said very little, and did not say anything offensive or unprofessional. Basically he listened to dead air for about 45 seconds then hung up. I'm going to call back tomorrow and tell the guy that my nephew picked up the phone and didn't know what to do when he realized it was a customer.
Any suggestions on what I should tell the guy?
This sucks!
At least I know my brochures work. I only put out 30 and I recieved a call within 2 hours.
