  • How long into the fall do you cut?

    Hey everyone,

How's that whole lawn thing going?

This is my first season, (it didn't go too well, so I might just pretend next spring is my first season j/k) and I was wondering how long you expect to cut into the fall each year, before you pack up the mowers and tend to other things.

I know you stop cutting when the grass stops growing But I was just looking for some dates or time periods from around the country, so I can get an idea. Thanks guys and gals. Take care of yourselves out there.

I generally stop around the week before Thanksgiving. It depends on a cold or warm fall. A warm fall may lead me into early to middle December. This is of course not on the same cutting schedule as in the summer months. I'll be looking at a few lawns per week.
    Put me out of service.

Here most lawns are cut from middle to the end of March until middle to end of November. Some are all year.

Down here we mow all year. Just not as much during Nov - Jan. Usually just once a month during these months.

            Odin00:

A 30 dollar cut becomes 200, from leaf cleanup? Are you using equipment like a ZTR with a bagger, or just tarps, blowers, and rakes?

THis is the first year I am offering leaf cleanups, so that is why I ask. I have found in the past that a tarp and a goold blower can make pretty quick work of it. Around here, the leaveson ly go as far as the curb, as every city comes around and collects them from the curb/street.

            Any advice is appreciated!

I use a exmark ztr with a ultra vac bagger .I blow the beds with a backpack out on to the lawn then mow em up with the leaves already on the lawn. The ones where you have a lot of trees\ on a big lot we blow em up and tarp charge by the hour.

until it snow, or there isn't a single leaf left on the lawn
