  • Sod question

I tried to do a search on 'sod' but it wouldn't let me...said the search word needed to be at least 4 letters...anyway...

A church that we just started servicing is expanding and adding on with a new building. They have asked if we're interested in bidding on the sod installation. We have never done sod before. Can I get some insight from ya'll experts----how do you charge, anything special about laying it, etc.? How many men will it take? All help is appreciated!

    Hello SCW:

There is always a Way to beat the system on Computers as long as they are built by Human Beings!

    Do this...

    Search for >

    *sod*

Please use the asterisk before & after the Word Sod. That puts you over the minimum number of characters to search for!

The above should work just Fine & Please don't tell anybody on this Forum about it?

5000 sq ft and less i try to get $1 - $1.25 per sq ft. Anything over 5000 sq ft i come off that considerability. Up here we get sod for about .19 per sq ft. Most times i cam give these jobs up at that rate even if i have soil coming in for grading. Unless its extensive grading i try to avoid charging for it but i do alot of times. I figure that up @ $44 per hour plus materials.

If the sod is on pallets, we charge $150 per pallet installed. That price excludes any dirt work or applicable delivery charges. We get our sod for $75 per pallet for St. Augustine.

The church may be a little "shocked" with bids on laying sod ... so be ready with plan B which is to offer a (three part) proposal for the same work ...

Price to establish lawn using sod $$$
          Hydroseeding it $$$
          Seeding it $$$

          Phil

P.S. Always try to offer (3) job/cost/price options, alternatives where possible and you'll greatly increase your odds of getting a job!
