I have been giving alot of thought about advertising and have come up with an idea that I haven't seen on here yet.

    Bus benches.

Think about it. Lawyers use them. Big insurance Co's use them.

    Why not Lawn Guys?

In Philadelphia we have one of the largest bus systems in the country extending far into the suburbs.

I'm sure the city or township would love to have you donate a few benches.
    Who cares what's on them?

As a matter of fact, they only have to be near the bus stop. Say, within 20 or 30 feet.

Most stops are in front of stores around here so technically the property is owned by the business.

Target a pizza place or an ice cream shop. Tell them it's a donation and all you do is inform them that it will have the LCO'S name all over it.

People driving by will stop at a light and their eyes will eventually wander and look in that direction.

Make it stick out so they have to remember it. Brightly colored or something.

    Just a thought.

          Very valuable Texas16.

The guys mentioned above have been doing this a very long time and I have come to respect some of their methods of advertising.

Phil is especially knowledgeable when it comes to advertising.

I would just like several opinions is all.
One opinion is not enough for me.

Even if Phil had answered first I still would have asked for multiple replies.

          No hard feelings.

Good part: (maybe) : If it is in a good location, a lot of "hits" can be had and some calls could be generated. (As long as people are not sitting on the bench, blocking your number )
If you own the bench, it pencils out to pennies per day over the long term.

Bad Part: A very broad approach, or shotgun approach. Not as "targeted" as some other direct methods. Again, location will help this work or not.
Jeeps are like women.....much more fun with their TOPS OFF!

A society that rewards based on need creates needy citizens. A society that rewards based on ability creates able ones.

              Elwood,

It is fairly targeted if you put them in neighborhoods you wish to service.
Especially if you place them outside of stores that wish to have them.

              Thanks for the input Elwood.

What about advertising on a bill board?

People will see your see your bigger than life ad as their driving by and you won't have to worry about anybody blocking the veiw.

The whole concept reeks of desperation.

Any respectable LCO should not have to resort to this type of method.

                    Nick,

The whole point was cheap advertising not extremely expensive, which a billboard is. Thanks anyway.

                    Jack,

                    How so?

Advertising on a billboard was some thing I've thought about doing myself. I haven't looked into it yet.

Billboard ads are VERY expensive and will not target a specific area. Most are on highways or interstates.

Come on guys, more opinions on the benches please.

Seascape, I would like to hear your thoughts. You seem to run a business very well.

                          Thanks,

1st id have to see the costs involved.

2nd ,,, im not convinced ive seen benches in the areas i particulary want to target. seems most benches i know of exist in low income and high congested ,highly populated single home dwellings. Like downtown. I would have to look at my location options.

3rd I might call some other advertisers i see w/ benches and ask them if they get results. But id take the feedback with a grain of salt.

My initial gut instinct is "very skeptical" Primarilly for reason #2

Bill boards on the other hand,,, i can think of 1 that id die for. Cant get on it,, not even for a million bucks !!! Its located in a very HOT area. 2 miles from Jacks golf course. Its booked up from now till the end of time.

Im pretty familiar w/ the city and havent seen any others that appeal to me. Location would be key. For the money youll pay,,, id be sure your very comfortable with the location.

If i was running a VERY aggressive campaign i would contact an agency and get a list of locations ,, than go personally look at the board to see what it was like. Than id decide if the costs were worth it.
