  • Hedge trimmer?

Does anyone periodically, throughout the job, spray their hedge trimmer blades with some type of lubricant. If so with what? Also, will dull trimmer blades cause excessive browning of the hedge after it has been trimmed? Thanks for any response!

Any silicone spray works great. Ive seen 2 cycle oil work and 10-30. I suppose somebody is going to tell ya not to use that ,, but to use veg. oil. That'll happen !

Trick is... oil when your done and getting ready to hang. Less chance of cross contmination on plant. But ive dumped oil on my shears(gas shears!!!!) and headed straight for the work. Never posed a problem for me. 9/10 of your contamination is cut off any how.

As far as browning the plant. Yes indeed. Certainly will. A bad cut will tear, pull, rip, and break material. Thus causing excessive scaring. More prone to desease at that point also.

You could spray the hedge w/ a Silicone based spray prior to trimming w/ a tank sprayer.

I have used WD40 and silicone spray. Usually after I am done with the trimmers for the day.

We use white lithium grease .... aerosal spray at the end of each day. Available from most auto parts houses.

Don't know if it is anybetter than some of the above but we are very happy with it. It will last through long hot runs the next day.

            Good luck
