  • Better idea

Ok guys i don't know how many of you read my other thread "new mower" but i was looking at a new encore but i think i have a better idea. After really looking at the encore and thinking about it i don't think that is the best choice. Now i have found a 52 inch exmark ztr lazer hp that is last years model but brand new with no hours for $6300. It will also come with the warranty. What do you guys think? Sorry i don't mean to keep asking about different mowers, just want to make sure i make the right investment, THANKS.

My first purchase was a eXmark Lazer, 60, 25 hp with a mulch kit. I've had it for four years with very little problems. Just normal wear and tear. I also run grasshoppers and have found them to be a bit more expensive but equal in performance and durability. In my opinion an eXmark is a good investment for free cutting and mulching lawns. I don't really like their vaccum system though. Grasshopper is the best vaccum system I have found so far.

    Just my 2 cents.

hey seascape, i was everywhere (LOL). I went to Buckeye Power Supply, Fecklers(in newark), a couple small used shops, Hoffmans(spelling?) in hillard, and hillard lawn and garden. I thought my head was going to explode after hearing so many different stories on what is better and all that great stuff. And yes i was told that exmark and toro are the same company.

I run the Exmark 52" ztr lazer HP and have no complaints about the machine. Easy to use and cuts great. Stripes nicely even without the striping kit.

HL&G said to stay away from encore and that bob-cat and bunton were both very good machines. Which i agree my buddy has a bunton and hasn't had any problems really. I don't think i agree with one thing he said though, it was something like this.....if you put a bob-cat, a bunton, and an exmark next to each other they will all mow about the same and if the exmark does better i'll buy you a watch! I've seen an exmark cut and my buddys bunton and i think the exmark was a lot nicer cut! Don't get me wrong the bunton does the job but the exmark does it better....my 2 cents.

clncut89, When did you buy your exmark, and if you don't mind, what did you pay for it?

I bought mine last spring and paid 6695.00. It has definately been a time saver and wouldnt go with any other brand mower. I also have a 36" Exmark wb and it seems whether it be the ztr or wb the cut is very perfessional looking IMO.

Ah,,, Sonny,, hes a trip aint he. Hes pretty much right. I think a exmark has a slightly better ride,, but the cut............ i personally can get just as nice if not nicer out of a cat. I like them both though. If you put a brand new set of blades on a cat,and a brand new set on a exmark and put them up against each other in equal conditions,,, you wont tell the differance. Only the ride,, and its not all that bad on a cat,, just a little stiffer. Seems to me anyhow. But,, hey im not a mower salesman. Sonny is though so you cant expect him to really try to pursuade you away from the cats. One things for sure though,, he would buy you that watch. Hes a man of his word. Best service in central ohio if you buy mowers from him. Your mower goes down,, he comes and gets it if he has to,, and dont be surprised if he has a brand new demo unit w/ him for you to use. if hes got one its yours until he has you back up. which wont exceed a day or 2. If hes got parts next day usually. Hes the only dealer i let my guys deal w/ face to face cause i know he wont take advantage of me not being there. Hes a great guy. You wont be comprimising dealer support by going w/ him. Oh ,, and by the way,, my bobcats dont go down,, but sonny still works on my exmarks cause that dealer wont see another dime from me. Another good dealer is VOSS BROS. up on Old Sawmill.Deere, Scagg and stihl is theyre game.

this is the story I have heard also, in fact toro used many ideas from exmark in their z mower, remember toro had no z mower until they bought exmark, just the good old "groundmaster's"....................those were the days.........
