I do alot of long distance cycling in the heat and have found some things that may help while mowing:

Buy a CamelBack hydration pack. Goes on your back and can hold over 100 oz. fluid.

Flavored beverage wth electrolytes ( basicly salts) are absorbed faster and help more than plain water. ( nothin wrong with water, just make sure that if you sweat profusely you also get some salts with the h2o. Can be deadly not to.

Eating requires blood to be routed to the gut, wich takes away from energy levels. Thats partly why you feel sluggish or tired after eating a big lunch.

and lastly, go to a local running store and ask for a summer weight undershirt. Something like polypropolene ( just ask for polypro, they'll know ) These will " wick" moisture away from your skin and cool you off better than even going shirtless.
If the grass is greener on the other side, move your fence.

The blood goes there for the digestion process. I've found temporary help for that sluggish feeling after eating, or anytime really, can be induced by tightening the stomach and core muscles, forcing more blood to the brain, (see your face turn red?), which will raise alertness a little.

                    Seascape,

Hardboiled nailed it. Digestion. It's why they recomend you not eat a large meal immediately before a cycling race. Robs you of energy. Anyway, I keep my midsection just a little flabby. That way I can't be tempted to take my shirt off on the job. Don't want to tease the ladies too much. The husbandS may get jealouse ( sp? ) and send my check out late.
