Weekly Or Bi-weekly

I've quit trying to convince them. Just charge add half of normal and let it go. So if a job is normally $30 for weekly I charge $45 for bi-weekly. This way they never see a savings and usaully after a month or two go to weekly.I use Gopher Billing & Scheduling Software

I tell them up front that weekly is the only way I operate. I made the mistake years ago of letting people dictate to me how often I should mow their lawn. Bi-weekly in the peak of the growing season is not often enough. If you discharge clippings it creates a mess that the customer will want you to either rake for free or double cut the lawn and of course they dont want to pay you a dime more for spending twice as much time there as would normally be neccessary. No more bi-weeklys for me thank you.

I dont mess w/ them anymore either. You always get screwed. Theyre just looking for some fool to take the burden of they're expenses. I have 1 old lady that we still go every 2 weeks. Hell ive had to do weeklys on it for free just to avoid a disaster. Ive had he for 8 yrs,, thought she would have died by now. She had alot of problems w/ other lcos and i think she would have a break down if i changed up on her. I havent raised her price since day 1. Its a community service thing more than anything. My opinion,,, we should all put our foot down on this.Originally posted by locutusI tell them up front that weekly is the only way I operate. what seems to have worked best for me is the following:
I set up the job so that i cut when i need to. I tell the customer that i may cut as often as every 5 days in peak season, or as little as every 12 days in the summer. This way i can knock out extra yards when i am in the neighborhoods during the high growth season, and in the summer i can be more flexible with my schedules for either more work, or to take a day off every now and then. Every month they receive a bill for the number of cuts performed within the past month. This way they arent getting charged for work i did not do, and i am not gettin screwed over for cutting extra times every month and not getting paid for it. This almost always works, but i have had a few that have insisted on bi-weekly cuts. I just tell them that i am not reponsible for the clippings. If they want me to double cut, then i need to be paid twice. It is almost never a problem.

I do the same thing on the bi-weekly's thier on my schedule I'm not on thiers, I also charge them more for the service and i justify this by explaining that the taller grass takes a toll on my mowers most customers understand and eventually move to the weekly service. I explain also there will be no extra work preformed and we only cut once. If the ***** about it I fire them plain and simple, and trust me nothing feels better than firing a pissy moaning customer.
