  • What do you expect to happen long range?

    What are your income goals?
Do you have a plan to achieve them?
Are you interested in building a large business or stay small?
What impact will the competition have on reaching your goals?

    Any thoughts about this?

My goal is not to be 100% lawn service. My plan is to grow a company that offers many services and keeps the company on a fairly steady income. The company I am setting up will be called Residential Specialist. I will offer mowing contracts, renovations, home additions, and any other carpentry needs. Currently looking into becoming a certified home inspector also (extra money and can get me in with the realtors). I feel that with the company's name and all the ground I can cover with it, I should be able to maintain 40-50k a year for me and 30k for a lead carpenter to run jobs when I am not around. As I will sub out electrical and plumbing in a home addition, I will sub out fertilization and aeration for my lawn customers. The reason I monitor this forum for advice is I plan on the mowing contracts making up 30-40% of the company's money. I know the value of contracts and steady work and the mowing will provide that. I would love for it to grow into a medium size company with 2-3 fulltime employees in my trucks with my logo on the doors.
I am currently doing carpentry jobs on the side and plan on passing out my mowing fliers in April which I hope will be my spring board out of the IT industry.

My short term goal(about 3 years) is to play manager and have a crew tak'n care of all of the work. I will do the estimates/sales and service calls. And, we'll have a hot secretary to take care of payments, new sales calls and scheduling the work....and other office stuff........but she's gotta be smok'n hot with somewhat of a brain. You need those. I wanna have about 5000 customers(that'll be longer than 3 yrs though).
