  • aerate and dethatching

Could someone please inform me how to best offer aerating and dethatching services. Things like pricing and what time of year to do them. I live in St. Louis, MO and my average lawn is about 4,000sq.ft.

    Thanks, Tim

If you are dethatching, make sure you do it BEFORE you use a preemergent. If you dethach after, you will disrupt the barrier created by the preem and thus allow weeds to grow.

Aerate in the spring or fall. Do not aerate in the summer, because you will leave roots exposed to a too hot of temperature. Also do not aerate when it is too cold because you will develop turf damage.
