  • How much is an Exmark going for new?

I have seen a lot of folks referring to the exmark...and a couple others. They must be good. How much do they run new? Also, what do you folks think about Kubota z mowers?

Ok, ok... I really like Kubota. But maybe I need to change my mind, eh?

alot more than most other mowers, i think around 8500 or 9000 for a 60 inch, you can usually get a bobcat 60 for 6999

I run an Exmark Lazer and a friend of mine runs Kubota's. His diesel motor is unreal in effeciency and smoothness compared to my Kohler. Exmark has a diesel that might be comparable to the Kubota but I don't know. Once you get past the engine, however, I think that's where the Kubota's superiority ends. Even though I burn more gas I think that an Exmark's cut and finish quality on a yard is near the top shelf if not the top shelf. He helps me on a few of my larger accounts sometimes and during growing season when the grass is a little thicker the Kubota will pile the clippings where the Exmark will blow them evenly. I believe that the blade tip speed on a Kubota is not as fast as most commercial mowers. Also I believe the Kubota's deck is designed more like 1 large air chamber instead of 3 smaller ones with more airflow. I have no facts to base this on other than being on the same lots with both mowers at the same time. I believe that to be the best comparison available. For the record I think the Kubota drives a little easier. However, when you load and drive away, the owner wants the smoothest cut and the Exmark outcuts the Kubota.

This past fall I bought a 2004 eXmark Lazer Z XP 60â€Â. It was around 11K, stripping kit was free and the bagging system was around $1,600. Haven’t had a problem with it, but I only got 75 hours on it.

                Deck Size

Another question about mower type. Obviously the 60" gets the job done faster (in most circumstances), but are there disadvantages? For example, what about getting into fenced in back yards? Is this where you need a good 24" toro or honda?

I have bin running 2004 27hp kohler 60" exmark lazer since last july, bought new $8350 no pay till april 2004(its paid for now).Thing runs awesome. From what i saw on the Kubotas engine quality is top notch( I run a B1750/ loader and att. for hardscapes) but thats where it ends. exmark makes a diesel about $750 more or liquid cooled for about $500 more.I went with the gas just cause diesel fuel is 20 mile trip for me.Overall Kubota makes a great tractor, but I dont think they are ready for the commercial market in mowing. I think Kemptoncutter was right on the target. Kubota's engines and drive systems (tractors and zrt's) are great. The mowing decks leave something to be desired.

Around my area 61 inch Exmarks are going in the mid 8000's depending on the particular model. Kubota's with the smaller 21 hp diesel are going in the 11,000's. I can't see it given the cut quality.

GREENSCAPE nother word of advice, talk to your local dealers now is the time they should be having their open house sales. Two best times to buy are before the season and end of the season. Also buy something else at the time ex blower, trimmer, etc. they will usually give a really good deal on something if your buying a $9000 machine, and dont be afraid of having a walk away price just like everything else.

Kubota has a new deck offering called the Pro-Deck. I 'looks' much like the Exmark deck. Also their is a blade tip speed up kit, I think so you can run lower RPM on the engine.

Just thought I would point that out.....
First of all you've got to ask yourself....

                            exmark mulch kit

Got a new exmark w/b late last year and haven't even had it running 8 hours but did try it on my own lawn twice in Dec to try it out. Was happy but since the grass was not doing much not that impressed with cut. I bought a mulch kit ( got it free with the mower deal) and just installed it last weekend.
I was very concerned the cut would suffer because the blades are shorter thus lowering the tip speed. HOLY SMOKE! What a surpise I got. Ran it over the side lawn just to see what it looked like. The grass is not growing yet but did the whole lawn after seeing the side lot. Looks like a strip kit was added and the grass was cut so fine I didn't even have to fire up the blower, there was nothing left but very fine dust. Can't wait to see the results on growing grass. Will I have a problem with spring growth and clumping?
