It all starts Monday

Who else is going to be getting things rolling on Monday. We're booked for the next two months starting March 1 with a 50' retaining wall that will take two days. After that, about 35 contractual spring cleanups. I've got around 25 mulch jobs scheduled to all be in by the second week in April. Several large install jobs are still at the designer that I'm 95% sure we'll get. These are all existing customers. I've got 5000 door hangers sitting under my desk that my 18 year old cousin and his buddy are going to begin dropping on Mondays, Wed, and Fri after school. Then mowing begins April 1. Hopefully, we'll be booked through June by the time those are all out. That's my goal anyway.

Dude...that's awesome. Okay, I just finished with snow removal on roofs (big-time cha-ching!!!) and am now getting ready for lawns mostly.

Where do you guys get these "door-hangers?" Is there another official name for them?

I've always gotten mine at www.nebs.com, but there are a lot of places to get them. Any local printer will be able to do them for you. I've got a buddy that I met on here that lives in upstate NY that I talk to regularly. He was telling about the snowmobiling that he was doing last weekend.LOL So, I know you guys up there are a little behind us in VA.

I believe that NEBS www.nebs.com will be the best bet for the hangers. After you establish an account with them they will often send you specials that are unreal. They also have door hanging preprinted envelopes. These work great for leaving statements on res jobs at the end of the month.

The season here in central TX opens Monday. We go from once per month or every two weeks to WEEKLY starting March 1st.

The spring clean ups are already in full swing and with the schedule acceleration we are adding at least 4 but more likely 6 operators. The first two started last Monday.

We had a good winter, although we don't really have winter here, and are looking forward to the push that has already started.

We started in late July 2002, so this will be our second full season and it looks great from here.

Hey Tom you mean you didn't get the 5 inches of snow i got last weekend here in Ft. worth? Ya monday is the day, ready to go, i got ants in my pants just sitting around. Man it'll be nice to get out of the house and smell that grass.....spring cleanups started lst wk.... and im tired of putting dwn pre-emergent. My boots have that gold tint to them HAHA LOL ready for the grass stains...

When u guys get a call for residential say spring clean ups or just whatever but not a landscaping deal. DO u give a written estamite there on the spot or do u go back and call them with one???

As long as It's a job that doesn't require me going back to the desk to do some figuring I simply handwrite an estimate on the spot.

Yes the time is approaching on us. Just seemed like yesterday I ended the fall/winter cleanups.

Of course my part-time job is the comp. listed below, but I also do mowing and such on the side. Im only 17 years old, so I need all the money I can (legally!!). Im starting my spring cleanups/first mowings the week or two after Easter. I know this may seem late to you veterans, but I am the head LD (Lighting Designer) for our HS musical, which will take up all my March month.

We at CTH are getting our nursery inventory ordered and bagged soils and mulches ordered also. Im getting tired of this cold weather!! Cant wait!! This will be my first spring working at CTH, so I dont know what to expect for spring shipments yet.

Cant wait to smell that grass and cash!!

WOW!! I still have at least another month before we look at spring cleanups- and that's only if we don't get any more major snow storms!! LOL! The one thing that we are concerned with this spring is flooding. We have had a record season with over 230" of snow to date. We will be lucky to have firm enough ground to drive on by mid April. I am enjoying the break in snow however and have started to write up all my bids. Looking at switching to doing mainly Commercial work this year (about 95%) and things are looking good. We have had such a bad winter that several companies pulled out mid season plowing because they had underbid or did not have blizzard clauses and got clobbered. I have two town home communities asking me for bids, and I am looking at picking up several more commercial locations for seasonal work as well. So I'll be behind my keyboard for a while yet, but things are slowly getting there, and spring is coming soon!!

I second you CNY!! I dont actually have to bid on anything, since I am only doing 2 side mowing jobs, and I dont want any more!! I just do my elderly neighbors across the street, and my grandpas farm field which he for some reason likes to keep meticously mowed twice a week. And of course my parents make me mow the lawn here at the house once a week. The dont expect me to get paid for that since they say that I get paid with "a bed and a meal". Guess their right!!

Weather has been mild in S. Mich but we still have patches of snow on the ground, Put a bid in on two chain resturants yesterday, could lead to more!
Heading to Daytona Bike week saturday, hoping to have nice riding weather their!!!
