Same here. Initially I catered to the elderly when I first started up. Now, 3 seasons later, I realize that the elderly, who have a tendancy to cry poor, are very far from that. I have one in particular that wants her grass cut every 2 weeks. I've been telling her for 3 years now, her grass needs cut at least once a week. The best I could convince her to do is let me cut it every 10 days, I even gave her a price break since it was getting to be a hour and a half job when it should have only taken 40 minutes. She would tell me that she was on a fixed income, meanwhile she managed to go shopping three times a week with her daughter. At any rate, this season I plan to drop her and many others due to my new motto "Cater to the rich."

The moral of the story is that they have the money, they just don't want to spend it...on the lawn.
      Put me out of service.

Old people are sometimes downright aggrivating and... nutcases. You know, a select breed of elderly people have had their entire life to cultivate the attitude of: "since now that I've reached the status of the respectable age of 65 or beyond, I deserve to:

        1. Be treated with the utmost respect, oh yeah, even if I'm screaming your ears off.
        2. Automatically recieve a 30% additional discount from any service or item I hand money over for, (esp. rudamentary lawn maint.) and if you don't honor this 'understood natural law'... you have yet to discover the depths of my horrifying crabbiness which, I can assure you, will make you blood run cold.
        3. Contracts are for picky people... what's that Lenore? Oh... Oops I forgot that I signed one!
        4. And finally, any young whippersnapper lawn-man (40 yrs. old & under qualifying) I don't care how many decades of unfaltering experience may be under his belt (I have decades more remember...), will not dictate to me when my lawn needs to be maintenanced! That judgement if for me to soley deliberate damnit!

Not to say that all elderly people are like this; I got carried away & had some fun. I've had the unpleasant experience of meeting a few. I'm just glad I'm not their lawn guy! Truthfully, I actually have several good elderly customers.

Only 1 thought I have to ad to this; if you came down on YOUR price you would essentially be selling YOUR service for your COMPETITOR's price. Somethin' ain't rite about that!
