  • Trimming or Edging???

OK here is my dumb question for the Day

I see edging and trimming and at some point I assumed they were actually the samething.... Unless of course u was building a flower bed then I get it but I saw a post that said edging trimming and blowing so what are we doing here???? I thought edging was taking a weed eater and running it along basically where the grass meets the drive way or somethign and also or also along say the edge or flower beds... Now I have an actual edger for say if I want to create and edge along my driveway...

So can u guys explain a little better when the proper time is needed to sell this or actually do this without a weed eater and use an edging machine???

Personally, I don’t use my weedeater to edge. You can get a much cleaner look using a stick edger. I use a Stihl that I bought for around $200.

    Good luck!

yeah man. definitely use an edger to "edge." you'll get a much straighter and cleaner cut. i've seen people use weedeaters, and swear by it, but it never has looked as good as an edger's results.

Edgers are for edging, weed eaters are for weedeating Plain and simple the cut looks 10 times better w/ an edger agianst the driveway, sidewalks, and curbs.

Hard surface edging w/ a stick edger,, not a trimmer. Formed concrete walkways, sidewalks, curbs and driveways. Round blade that cuts the turf off the side of the hard surface leaving a manicured edge of transition. Try to sell it w/ your residential mowing accounts. Some take it some dont. Im known to perform it even of they dont want it cause it really is to my benefit. The sites look much better. Stihl sells a nice stick edger. That what you was lookin for?

I was just going to ask which is the better stick trimmer, Echo or Stihl? The echo was the 230m model and I cant remember what the stihl model was but the dealer said they were both comparable. The stihl was cheaper and had a larger motor. I use all echo equipment and have had only minor problems with my trimmer. I read the eariler post about the carbs clogging on these)What do ya think?

I don't know if it's really any better, but I like the Stihl just fine. Good price, fairly light and plenty of power...

Not for me... Edging is included in my estimate. In my opinion it makes a tremendous difference in the finished look of the job without adding much time. Believe me... after a full season of running an edger you'll get pretty fast.

There are, of course, exceptions to the rule. I have a few clients that don't have a paved drive or walkway, therefore there's nothing to edge...
