  • Need help bidding out a job

I was woundering if somebody could help me out with this, I don't want to loose my shirt, but I want to get my foot in the door. It's a bank we have here in town, it has roughly 200,000ft. of exposed land that needs to be mowed. I was figuring 2hrs. to mow this. I will be using my Scag with a 61" deck, and I was figuring on 26 mows for the season.

Also the company from last year mulched the beds, should I include a new mulching for this year or just rake it over to make it look nice?

I was also woundering about the sand that gets on the lawn from the winter, should I figure on renting a sweeper for the lawn to remove the sand as well as sweeping up the parking lot?

I have a pretty good idea of the cost of the trimming, they also want to have it fertilized 2x's a year thats alot of fert, how do I price that as well?

    Your help is appreciated. Thanks!

ok start out wiht this and let them knwo you do offer other services, jsut to mow eadge and trim weekly i;d go around $350 per week, and for eACH FERT app. id charge $625, because if you put the footage right thats over 5 acres of land and i charge 60 per acre.

      PTL. Somethin's not adding up here? 60/A? 5 A's?

      Maybe more like 4.59 A's?

      200,000ft2 divided by 43,560ft2 = 4.59 A

DPM. You need to know YOUR production rates to get a number for this job. How many acres can YOU mow in an hour and multiply it out. Everybody has different standards and production rates so, everyone will come up w/ a different price.
Also as far the applications go you need to find out what the customer is willing to pay for. If they want Chem-Lawn quality or if they want top of the line, premium quality or maybe something in the middle. If they only want chem-lawn then sell them that but cover your azz. Customer always gets what they pay for. Sell it!

PTL. Not tryin' to be a jerk. Numbers just didn't look rite.
A lot of stiff competition around and have seen alot of bids around here @ $25 per Acre for mowing. All commercial quotes, and not relevent (sp?)to small/residential props.
Do I believe that is a good rate? No.
