I use the Toro proline, it is worth the money $949.00 for a 2 cycle if you can find them and $1129.00 for the new 4 cycles that are replacing the 2 cycles here in our part 0f the country. Go Toro, if your gonna mow like a pro you gotta use what the pro's use. You'll make you money back in just a few weeks with it....... :pPhillip Fireman's Lawn Care TX

Don't pay attention to Jack he has no real experience in this field.
But he can tell you the best way to get a walk behind stuck in a back yard with step’s

Hello, I would asume Mr. Sinclair primarily bags w/his Hondas.
The Honda will clump more readily than Toro or Lawnboy 2strokes in mulch mode & will not discharge nearly as well as a Lawnboy w/discharge carriage bar removed. The Lawnboy with side bag attachment (not rear) will also plug less than the rear bag Honda in lush turf.
The high end hydrostatic commercial Honda is also close to 50lbs heavier than a Duraforce Lawnboy & 20lbs heavier than a Proline Suzuki. While the Honda is certainly more durable than the self-propelled Lawnboy it has no reliability advantage over self -propelled Prolines or push Lawnboys.

I agree with Jack, Toro proline is the #1 21" in my book. They are also easy to get parts for and will out live the Honda. They wheels are beefier and you can't beat them for easy bagging. They also run and cut faster than the Honda's in my opinion. My two are 4 yrs old and start on the second pull almost every time and I estimate in four years they have cut over 2000 times. I really dont see many guys that are pro's using anything but the Toro Proline 2 cycle here in the DFW area.Phillip Fireman's Lawn Care TX

New account with four wide wood trimmed stairs leading down to a large back yard. End of the day, not thinking clearly, tired, don't want to use the 21 on this back yard. Take the WB slowly down the stairs with deck tilted back. Cut the back & suddenly realize I have to get the WB BACK UP THE STAIRS. Dropped off the help before this job. Tilt the deck back & make a slow run at the first step (pretty steep), no go, increase speed make another run, no go. Wood is getting scraped. No way I'm going to make it up four steps. Unlock the hydro & pull. Doesn't work. Customer comes out, sees the scraped wood & me sweating & pushing at the bottom step. I tell her the machine broke down & I will restain the wood. She gives me an evil look (don't blame her) & watches as I push, pull, twist, lift, to no avail. Finally after about 15 min. I tell her I'll be right back. Phone everyone I know, answering machines, left lotsa URGENT messages. That WB is still sitting in her back yard. I'm so fu**** STUPID. What would you have done besides not take it down the steps?

Went back to the customers house yesterday morning with two employees, lumber, circular saw, wood stain & a sander. WB IS GONE! I am in shock. Then I see the wood fence at the back of the property has been smashed through. At this point I'm sure the WB was stolen. Walk over to the smashed fence & see the WB front end up against a tree in the adjoining yard. Blade was running because both my customers, & the neighbors flower garden have been chopped up. Take the WB out through the adjoining yard, sand & restain the steps & leave. Got a message from the customer last night to call her, but haven't been able to get through yet. Hoping the husband did this & not some kid looking to steal a WB so I don't have to pay for the damage. The fact the blade was running when it crashed through the fence makes me think it wasn't a theft attempt. If the hubby or one of their kids did it I'm not at fault & shouldn't fix the fence ????
I had my guys cut the adjoining yard because of the path the mower made from the garden to the tree. Not sure if that was a good idea.

Mystery solved!
Customer calls me tonight says her son (the kid is about 14) fired up the WB and put it through the fence. She is pissed because I told her when I was trying to wrestle it up the stairs it had broken down. Says she saw her kid looking it over but she thought it wouldn't run. Told her the Stair climbing system (SCS) had broken down not the engine or drive. I offered to fix or pay for the fence & replant her & her neighbours gardens. She accepted the offer, said she would pay materials, & gave me her neighbours # to make arrangements to replant his garden. Not real happy about fixing the fence, probably have to hire someone to do the job. Didn't discuss the maintenance contract but I plan on sending a crew over there on Friday to cut. Hope she doesn't wonder why we never got the SCS fixed on the WB's and keep using a 21 on the backyard from hell.
Thanks for your replies.

Holy cow that back yard story is awesome!!! Hope you get it all worked out. Back to the mower question. I use Toro Proline 2 cycle 21. They have been super good to me. Except for the gas tanks seem to be rather suseptiable to damage. The mower deck and motor is low enough to go under objects, but the tank sits up quite a bit higher. Only real trouble. My mowers also start on the first or second pull, good stuff.
