  • Bidding Pros?

    <font color="green">
    I'm a newbie to the lawn care industry and need help in making bids.

    1. <b>What are some ways to make commercial/residential bids?</b>
    <b>measuring </b>(length x width)x hourly rate, or <b>estimating</b> (hourly rate x estimate the number of hours to mow).

    2. <b>Does anyone have any "scripts" or examples for making door to door bids?</b>

    Thanks for all of the advice guys!!!!

    For the most part we charge by the hour for services, with the exception of perhaps trimming hedges, mulch, landscaping, etc.

    And sorry, can't help you much on the door to door script part. We never go door to door selling. One reason is because in our city you are required to have a permit from the city in order to sell door to door. And another is that with proper advertising you can generally get as much business as needed. Now we do place door hangers in particular areas we want to do business in, but that's about the extent of our door to door.

      So you estimate the number of hours it will take and then multiply that by your hourly wage. Can I ask how much you charge per hour? Thanks for the advice.

        We start at $35.00 per hour up to $50.00 for a full crew. Keep in mind when estimating though that a full crew is going to finish the work in a lot less time then what one man can.
