  • Gas Hedge Trimmers

I have the chance to buy a Poulan GHT220 22" gas trimmer, reconditioned for 65.OO. Cost new is approx 185.00. I currently use a Stihl, but need a backup. Any thoughts. Thanks.

    Garbage!!!

The first mistake made by people first starting out is they tend to want to start with cheap equipment. When you start with cheap equipment, you are basically ruining your chance of having a successful business. Don't go cheap just to save money unless you don't have the money. By going cheap, in the long run, you will pay more for the cheap equipment. For example:

I use Echo HC-1500's and they will run 8-10 years or more with proper maintenance. $300 to buy, new.

A weedeater or Poulan trimmer will run 1 year if you're lucky. $65.. You will spend way over the $300, if you buy a junker to begin with..

      I agree.
Bought reconditioned stuff in the past and always had problems. I finally started buying new commercial eq. and have not had any problems since. Found it to be cheaper in the long run to just buy new!

I personally would stay away from the Poulan and buy a good commercial brand of equipment. I have Cub Cadet and Kawasaki and both brands work well.

I pride myself in buying good equipment the first time. This will be my second year in the Lawn Biz and I run a small show but refuse to buy sh*t equipment or used. Just bought brand new exmark 36", recently bought echo pb-650, and echo pruner all brand new!

You would have better luck with Corona hand shears than the poulan!
