  • Filling in Low SPots

Getting ready to look at a yard for a customer who wants some low spots filled in with topsoil and seeded.

    Question is this.....

Is the correct way to do this:

Fill in the low spots with topsoil, hand tamp the filled in areas with a hand tamper......then put about 2" of loose soil over top and seed and straw.

Should I mound a little bit for settlement????

Hoe much time would you estimate for each yard of soil if it is to be delivered and to the home......loaded in wheel barrows by shovel and placed in the low spots using that method. Assume the average distance to the fill spots from the dirt pile is 75'

    Thanks!

You mis understood me,,, this is a great applicant for penn mulch. this is actually what they had in mind when it was designed. But in order to make money they attempt to compete w/ hydro seed.Blame em?

Reason he can justify penn mulch,,,, there is existing established turf in the area. No sense in introducing weeds to the area. So use penn mulch on this one. Therefore you wont need an additional broadleaf application this year. The typical program application should take care of anything.

Or use straw and shoot any weeds that are introduced,,, but i think in this case the client will agree w/ penn mulch.
