  • FINALLY!! Mowing Season is Here!!

I finally got my BRAND NEW JD SST18 out and got my mowing contact started. Also did a bit of spring leaf and brush cleanup.

Being a typical elderly lady, she had me go out and buy 40 dollars worth of pansies for me to plant around the mailbox. Mulched and trimmed. I still have to buy 2 or 3 more bags of mulch to finish up the front yard. It looks a crap load nicer than it did before I did all that work.

It has rained all this week so far, today it was 60 degrees and breezy. Its supposed to be nice all this weekend.

Just thought I'd get all that off my chest so I can sleep better tonight!!

I finished up the last three lawns I needed to do this week, one of them is my own, and then spent a few good hours do a spring cleanup myself. I've got a load of leaves and brush to take to the landfill tomorrow, then a couple more hours to finish the job. Hope fully I'll get that BIG cleanup job, and start on that later tomorrow. Sunday, it's time to flog myself on the mountain bike. A killer thirty mile ride at Blue Marsh outside of Reading. It's gonna be great!

I've been going since the 2nd week of last month. Yards are really growing here now. Added one this morning and this afternoon got a call at the fire hall from a construction company that has 4 for me to do weekly. I'm glad the time changed; now if I can mow 14 tomorrow I want have to mow any Saturday.

CTH, I go to the local community college. I've been doing this kind of work part time for years, mostly just mowing. It was last semester while sitting through a boring 3 hour computer programming class that I realized I wanted to do lawn care/landscaping for a living. In my area, I would say hundreds of houses easily go up each year, if not more. Next year I'm transfering to another school to study turf management and horticulture, exciting stuff, lol. It's nice being out of high school, because I don't have classes all the time. I have been able to schedule without having friday classes, so I mow all day fridays now. I have another job I work now at a local car dealer detailing cars, but I'm leavin that to go back to a summer job I have for the local school district mowing grass there.

I havent even started mowing yet!!! :p The snow is all gone now but sometimes it snows a bit. It's almost time to start clean ups and ive started going around asking ppl for their business. May first is when i'm going to pay for my monthly add in the paper that comes out 3 times per week. The mowing season up starts the 3rd week in may to the first of october. Or sooner depends on the rain.
