Finding existing business to buy...

I always see people talking about buying an existing lawn care business, and was wondering how you found the business was for sale?

I am interested in buying an existing lawn care business to help boost my business' income, but have no idea how to go about finding ones for sale.

For those of you who have bought an existing business, did you just happen upon them, or did you go out looking?

Don't give up, Hang in there...

Call & talk to all the Lawn Service, Landscape, Chemical Application owners in the area. Talk to the folks at the Nursery, Repair Shop & etc.

Then send a letter to all Lawn Service, Landscape, Chemical Application owners. Then send them another one & another one & another one about 4 to 6 weeks apart.

LOL, send them the letters near the end of the month, 1st of month & 10 days later they going to file 13 your letter because of Checks coming in. Ca Ching $$$$$

Make it perfectly clear you Need & Want New Work ASAP...

I bet money you will get plenty sent to you for FREE if your area is large enough & you might get lucky get a few leads on some for sale too!

Don't give up & Keep on Sending those letters!

One problem you'll have is confidentiality ... going thru a 3rd party who is not in the biz could prove helpful ... send the letters out under a relatives name, not yours. Potential "sellers" talking to potential "buyers" always fear loss of their accounts and worse ... their employees sensing the "boss" is selling off part of their "job" so to speak.

P.S. If you take your buying "plans" to a Broker or other 3rd party and become a player ... you'll be the first to know when acquisitions become available.
