  • New Here Couple Quick Questions

Just started in March of this year. Have about 12 regular clients. Very difficult to juggle with a full time job. I think I could this full time...but we'll see.

How much to charge for planting trees? I charged a guy $100 for 2 trees. It was exhausting work. They were 5 ft. cherry trees. Was that under priced?

Also, just gave a guy an estimate of $1990. for clearing his back yard, mulch, pinestraw, moving a tree, cutting down some bushes, planting leland cypress, weed barrier, planting junipers, planting dwarf holly, the whole nine. I think I ran him off. This included the cost of the materials, and installation. Also, included me transporting the materials. I just gave it to you all in a nutshell, but it was alot of things he wanted done. Does that seem too high?

How long did it take you to plant? if you took more than 2-3 hours, your too low.

The $1990 job looks about right for Professional $s. How big are the plants, how much mulch?

I need more info. I'm confused on this $1990, is this YOUR price or the price of the guy you ran off?

Having a job just to have a job without profit isn't a smart business move. Remember, profit is more than just making wages. If you wanted to just make wages, you'd be working your full time job and drinking canoppies in the shade on your time off.

Landscape estimating can be easy if you follow the X 3 rule. Any material times 3 should be your installed price to the customer. If you charge any less then you are cheating yourself and passing the saving on to your customer.
