Thanks for the info, i think i feel a little better now. I have one qustion about the load up time on work. Having a full time job my only time for customers would be on weekends. How do i load up on work when most clients want thier work to be done on saturdays only? This transision part between my currant job and new business seems like a very hard part about this whole idea. This is the only thing that scares me away from pursuing this field. What should i do?

If you are in a northern market meaning that there is down time between seasons ... you'll need to hustle up enough clients over the winter and early spring to transfer into this bizz. Suggest going after a few commercial accounts, small ones to start, to build up enough sales dollars in a hurry for the spring start ... hit the ground running with enough cash flow but also tap into residential markets too. It's not unrealistic that a one man show can do maybe $60,000 to $75,000 in sales all by himself at first (depends on services offered) ... so figure your expenses based on having a truck, trailer, mowers, equipment on the road for a year .. figure in all costs, see what that will net you ... I think you said you needed $50,000 net take home ... (PLUS) you need to cover equip pymts on top of that. Do a cash forecast of the equipment pymts outlay (first) ... then lets go from there to figure how much sales you need to do in order to generate a profit of that $50,000 and handle pymts too.

Thanks Phill. I live in north florida so the market is saturated almost year round. As far as equipment cost, I am at this moment not having to finance anything for my stuff. The only exspence will be maintance and fuel, blades etc.Time constrant is the poblem. I see it as work saturdays for a while and then having to jump in with both feet. It will be hard but, i see it as my only option. What do you think? As far as this season goes, most[I HAVE NOT RESURCED IT YET,ONLY FROM A VISIULE PERSPECTIVE] it looks like alot of the comm. accounts have their contracts for the time being. I may have to hit the res. part of the bizz first.
