PLus, Does anyone know how to deal with realtors on repo houses? A realtor called me and wanted to know if I would cut grass, trim trees, do hedge work, make the house presentable for showing. He said that the bank would only allow $50.00 for the job. I laught at him and asked where the rest of the money was going to come from? Since the bank owns the house this is all that they would pay. I turned down the job because I thought the job at least was worth $250.00. It is two man and most of of day work. I keep thinking I was wrong due to I could have gotten my foot in the door with the realtor. However, there are other jobs out there for me to do. So I guess I shouldn't worry about it. Was i wrong? Has anyone done simular work with repo's? Jay

You did the RIGHT thing. You don't want to get in with a Realtor that thinks you'll do work that cheap.....$50 is an insult.....it's robbery for them to even suggest you do all that work for that price.

You did the right thing by not doing the job. You said you have landed every job that you had the right equipment for and that some people were giving you more than you asked for. Take that as a hint bro and adjust your pricing! My wife and I were in this business about 6 years ago ( I had a well paying full time job, Laura landscaped full time) and had to sell the operation. This past Oct I decided to get back into the buz and what a difference this forum and a buddy of mine made.( yes I'm giving you some credit Steve, but I still hate you!lol) I make more now in 1 1/2 days than I did in 5-6 days then. As I said in an earlier post stick to your guns on pricing! I also agree with Easy Way, get a job cause your going to need it unless your wife can support you while you build your company. Have you been to the Hunington subdivision yet? My in-laws live there (in Mr. Weyerhaeuser's house he built for himself) and all of the houses are upper-class. I would hit that one hard you may get some outside help if you know what I mean. As a matter-of-fact I should be there next weekend in the screened in porch with beer and crabs! good luck

It is nice to know that...thanks. Is there a spreadsheet or free download that is out there that I can manage my accounts? I keep looking for some but I can't find anything that would be useful in the lawncare business. I keep everything in a organizer and ledger but it takes some time for me. My wife has to keep me organized for the moment. Any sugestions out there? Thanks, Jay
