  • What do you do when nature calls?

Believe it or not this happened to me the other day. I got in the truck and took off to the nearest place, leaving my equipment on the customers property. It was kind of an emergency. Didn't like leaving the equipment there though.

what do the professionals do in this situation?

I always seem to have to do that at least once a week...

I just hop in the truck and run to the nearest gas station, or if the customer lets you, knock on the door and ask him or her to use their facilities. Usually they are nice enough to let you in.

Always have a roll of toilet paper and a 5 gallon bucket in the truck at all times. Jay

That's where an Enclosed Trailer comes in REAL handy...I have an open trailer though.....so I gotta run to a fast food joint or whatever.

i got a milk jug in the trl. and lots of towels and baby wipes. yea baby wipes , they work great for that or just cleaning your hands or face off. we were at a job one day where we could only take one trl. and we chose the open and left my enclosed with all my items. anyway it was late in the day and we stopped and got a sub. i wasn't cutting 5 min. and that damn pain hit. it was pretty open but i had to go. found me a tree and i was lucky i had a hankerchief. i didn't care who saw my a$$. lol it won't happen again. also don't get a steak sub loaded during the day .

I was always embarassed to bring this up, glad you did. I'm fortunate so far, most of my jobs are close to home, 3-5 miles. The one thats a bit farther has it's own public washroom. I developed an ulcer from taking ibuprofen, and the stress of dealing with constant pain in one knee. As a result, the increased acid, makes my bladder want to empty more often. I'm just finishing a dose of prilosec, don't see much of a difference yet. I've had to run home between jobs two doors apart.
A word of warning, don't use a customers yard, neighbors are always watching you. I was discussing this recently with someone, and was told of a homeowner who recieved a new roof instead of a small repair because the insurance adjuster was caught urinating in their yard (by a neighbor) during his visit.

It never hurts to have a few paper towels or kleenex in your wallet. Should you get stuck without something like that, always remember that you are wearing socks, and socks just aren't very expensive! Usually, you can keep the glove box in the truck stuffed with the cheapie napkins provided by your local fast food joint.

This is something that I would never do. I'd much rather leave the jobsite and go up to the nearest gas station than go in someone elses yard (unless its your own that you're working on, which I couldn't see the point anyways, when you probably have a bathroom). Its just dumb and senseless.

Ya rookies!!!!!!!! Do this long enough youll train yourself to do this in the morning just before you head out. If it does come up i usually head to a fast food joint but look out on construction sites along the way for a porta potty. 9xs out of 10 i'll find one of them before i do a food joint. And they dont care.

I always go where ever I'm working. There is usually an available hedge away from the houses or some bush lot across the road. But thats for taking a piss only.

In Michigan, if you get caught taking a piss in the bushes or anywhere outdoors, you will recieve a ticket and have to register on this state's sex-offender registry....then if your customers try to look you up, imagine their surprise when you are on the same list that people who molest young kids are on...maybe they will give you a chance to explain....maybe.
