  • Espanol-No comprende'-Learn Spanish?

What do you think?Do you think it would be a good idea to buy a Spanish language course in order to be able to communicate with Mexicans that seem to make up the majority of green industry workers in my area.I've never hired anyone before but I may this year if things go well and I get really busy.I saw an ad in Lawn and Landscape Magazine for a program that taught useful phrases, etc in Spanish geared toward landscapers and lawn maintenance.Has anyone tried it?Wouldn't learning some Spanish be helpful?I think I may check it out.

If you plan on your company growing, I would say learning Spanish is mandatory. Its good to see that you are open-minded to adapting. Its necessary to have this attitude to be successful in this business. Definitely invest the time and money, it'll be well worth it!

The problem is that the Mexicans don't speak "proper" Spanish.

For example just compare an English speaker from Boston and to an English speaker from Jaw-Jaw to understand my point.

          Hello,
Last summer i actually took private spanish lessons. i would agree and say it was manditory. i tried the "learn spanish by yourself" and they didn't really help at all. small details in the language make all the difference. i would hate to tick a person off while trying to ask him/her if they needed a job. that would be bad, maybe real bad. i would suggest you go for the private lessons. with the private lessons you will defenitely learn faster. good luck!

I also was thinking on taking some spainish lessons. I took it quite a few years ago in high school but don't remember hardly anything due to not using it. I do remember our spainish teacher saying that she had a hard time with the langauge in Mexico because it was not quite the same as Spain.

Mexicans don't speak proper spanish lawrence??? Do you know how many spanish countries there are... every one of those countries speaks spanish differently but still understand each other. Thats not the point though. I am Mexican and I'm in the landscaping business just like you guys, so the workers I have are Mexican of course and since I speak spanish real good yes it does help, specially if you're hiring newbies. You should just learn some basics enough to train them and name of tools.
