In our area, if you aren't doing stripes, your're probably not a professional, Many people are starting to install striping kits just to sell more.

no ,i had a job the other day and it was wet in this one area and yes a small area . the tire tracks looked like crap. they were all mashed down in the direction of the cut of course. when i finished i was gonna rake them back as i have done in the past on jobs. this time i took the blower and blew them back the other way.2 or 3 min. and it looked great. i am talking big time wet.

I'm gonna take a wild guess and say that was last Thursday morning.

We do the same thing from time to time. And, we always stripe everywhere possible. I have the time built into the cost of the cut. Just like everyone here cutting cool season grass has mentioned, you're not going to last long cutting circles around here. I've had customers call me out on crooked lines before.

I think going around in random circles would take longer than zipping back and forth in a straight line.

here's my two cents: How much longer can it possibly take to stripe vs round?
round looks like crap! If somebody cut my grass in circles it would be the last time. I pay my daughter to cut our grass and she wanted to use the rider and I wouldn't let her. I made her use the exmark and make stripes. She said why, nobody can see our house but us? My reply was because I can see it!

                  Seabiscuit,

What you don't know about the business is astounding.

Unlike you, I recoginze evironmental conditions vary from location to location.

I know St A is the best turf grass that can withstand the environmental conditions we have here.

You're the kind of dip**** that would expect KYB to thrive here.

Either way, carry on showing us how little you know, and how unlikely it is that you will ever really learn any more about the industry.

I could stack up any clients complete landscape, even the worst one I have, against any one of yours, and come out ahead on a score card regarding health, aesthetics, and execution of cultural practices. That is important. Not your cool season grass is better than my warm season grass.

As for your "Wouldn't last a month" comment. What? What possess' you to make such a stupid comment?

I live and work on the beach. Average highs for July are 94. August will be 95. I know my conditions are a wee bit tougher than yours, day in day out. But, if you insist, you can keep thinking you live in a harsh climate.....

                  Idiot.

I've forgotten more about the subject than you will ever know.

Due to the type and growth habit of St A, a "striping" effect could be attained to a limited degree, but is generally worthless.

I cut grass in the most efficient manner to minimize the time spent with regard to accepted practice.

We generally don't have to change the direction or method of cutting to avoid compaction in reality. Exceptions do occur, but they would be necessary because of other factors included. Not just because the turf type and subsurface soils are problematic.

Again, a generalized blanket statement aint gettin it.

                    Seaweed- understand yet?

Ya I wonder why people complain about having crabgrass in their St Dogastine. Crabgrass actually looks better than that stuff.

Here is what St Dogastine looks like next to a well manicured FL Lawn. Prior to both being cut

Here is a mole hill in my yard. Had to get some traps to kill em. Moles actually improve the appearance of Dogastine though
