  • Catch my mower..too fast

I recently bought a used commercial Honda 21" HRA 216 mower that runs too well. How do I slow it down? The self propelled speed setting is turtle but the mower runs like a deer. That is the slowest setting, help please. Thanks

I thought you bought a Honda??
Check and see if the cable is broken or stuck in the "rabbit" position.

Have your RPM's checked, Honda mowers with say various speed settings are fixed settings & on most walks there's really no way to slow the machine down except lower your engine RPM's.

On that Honda, I would not run it under 3,200 RPM's. Are you sure it's actually changing gears & it's not stuck in one speed setting. I see that a lot, where the mower will have a stuck or broken cable in second or third gear.

It sounds like you are talking about the 2 speed, with the shifter on the deck? As far as I am concerned, there is very little difference between the two settings. If you want a true speed difference, get the "hydrostate" variable speed shifter, its worth the extra money.

In WA around $1100. In Alaska, the price is probably inflated due to your remoteness.
