  • track vac leaf collections?

last year a really struggled with leaf cleanup. I just hauled the leaves in a trailer and had to dispose of them. Way to many leaves and took up too much time. Is the track vac worth it? how well does it chop up the leaves. Is it better than a billy goat propelled leaf sucker?

A BG walkbehind Vac is Scrub Equipment. Please consider running over the leaves first w/a mulch kit equipped unit & then bagging the remains if volume is an issue.

Trac-vac truck loader is what we use, 11hp, 2100 series.Works adequately, will eventually go to a 16 or 20 hp loader. Does a good job shredding leaves, although oak leaves are fairly tough and do not shred too well, but compaction rate is good, you can really pack them in.My forst year blew them into a 12' trailer, then hand unloaded. Set truck loader up last year on our one ton dump, really is the easiest way to go.I can unload in less than five minutes and head back to the job.

I just placed my order for a Little Wonder truck loader yesterday. I asked about it on the forum the other day and so far no one has used it. I did the research on the different loaders and decided on the LW for a couple of reasons. It was a little heavier,(which I thought it was about the same weight as the others) which may mean a little thicker steel, A star shaped gismo in front of the impellar to help shred, and an easier looking handle for the nozzel. Since this is the first one my dealer has sold, he is knocking off about $500.00.

I bought a trac vac last spring to pull behind my Scag ztr, One of the best things I ever did! It cut my leaf clean up time by 25-50%(mostly 25%) and made leaves one of the easiest jobs I do (it used to be the worst!). I had thought about getting out of the bussiness because working alone I hated fall clean up. Now I can do the work of a 2-3 crew by myself. I also use it all season long, Cleaning up lawns that are a foot high and cleaning up after hedge trimming. As far as chopping the leaves up it does a good job not the 12 to 1 ratio they claim maybe 6 to 1. But still a great investment. I say go for it! Scott

The LW shreads very well, nothing larger than usually 1/2" after it is processed. I am going build a new box sometime that is easier to unload maybe just by moving the shoot and putting the intake at the bottom of the box. The LW has been great so far, only thing is it is kinda noisy, and I wish the fuel tank was a little larger.

                  RRS,
I bought it from Davis-Merchants out in Powhatan, off of Rt. 60. I picked it up day before yesterday. Haven't had much of a chance to play with it yet but I hope to this weekend. If you are interested let me know and I'll help you with it. Mike treats me good, he's the owner.

                      Yup!!!

Has anyone thought about using their leaf vac for a dedicated litter route for something like convience stores, small parking lots ect?

Once you are discharging into a containment box it helps some too.

                        Thanks,

I talked to Steve on the phone last night and he told me that's where you bought it. I have several places to check out this weekend after talking with him.
