Do any of you offer a discounted price to customers who sign a contract for more than one year. If so, what percent do you discount the price?

This year I had 12 customers re-sign their contracts through the 2005 season, and they got a discount. So far after nearly four years in business I've only had one person pay the entire season in advance.Do you find that people take you up on that offer? That sounds like a great idea to me. I'm having trouble getting some of my regular customers to pay their invoices on time.

Not long ago we did a rather large grading, pinestraw, seeding, mulchbed, digging out for a patio job and the customer wanted to know if we gave a volume discount. I had to tell him in a nice way that we were not like the adds on tv, we do not offer 2 for 1 deals, will not meet or beat anyones prices, or offer volume discounts. I asked him if he got paid less if he worked more at his job, you know kind of like giving his company a discount he he worked more. He understood and has retained us for further jobs in the future. So the answer to your question is not at this time.

I don't like discounts for multi-year deals. Your costs will probly rise and giving away 10% is a lot UNLESS you can bake it in the price AND still get the job in the first place.Jeeps are like women.....much more fun with their TOPS OFF!

We offered discounts on multi-year large commercial sites to try to lock in and justify adding substantial additional investment in equipment ... I think there's a place for discounts when you can offer a service or a product easily measured for comparison ... with services what level of "quality" compared to a retail product like a Stanley Screw Driver?
Aside from discounts offer a strong guarantee of satisfaction for the job or you do it again ... etc.
