Me neither! Are you sure about those prices? That means you would do a 10,000 Sq ft residential property for $15. That would take you 40-45 minutes start to finish if it was square and no trees. I have lawns 7000 sq ft that are pretty open and not a lot of trimwork and it takes me 30 minutes by myself. I definitely could/would not compete.

Your prices seem low to me also. When I started doing this 15 years ago my lowest price was $15.00 and that is about where it is today for about 1/8th acre. What's wrong with this picture? I'm going to re-start my service this spring and I may fall closer to Steve's priceing because I have the feeling that it may not be so easy to get accounts this year on account of the war and the economy being in the dumps.I don't know.Hopefully President Bush's economic plan?will turn things around?

I've never had those numbers come out at each exact number.. The numbers listed would be a flat lawn with no obstacles or buildings..

          Mariner,

I can do 10,000 sq.ft. lawns in less than 15 minutes with my 48" wb. Now considering there would be obstacles in a normal lawn, yes, the price is higher..

I just gave an estimate today on a 27,590sq.ft. residential property and I quoted $42 per cut.. It all depends on the amount of obstacles and the amount of time involved.. When I'm all said and done, I come out right around $60 per hour...

I'd skip the $10 and $15 prices and set up a minimum price of at least $20, then go up from there.

I won't drop the gate for less than $25. I definately couldn't compete with that around here. I do some properties 1,000-2,000 ft and I get $25 for less than 10 minutes work. I'm not trying to pick on your prices, just stating how it is around here.

                Quality,
Neighborhood kids around here charge more than you. Also, I have a 35 dollar minimum for any service. I don't mean to knock your pricing, but I just don't see how you can make any money on smaller jobs, residential or commercial.

                  Hello Everybody:

I think 10,000 sq.ft. should be around $45, that's the going rate around here in Columbus, JawJa!

THIS IS GOOD INFORMATION FOR LOTS THAT DO NOT HAVE A LOT OF TRIMMING OR EDGING. BUT I HAVE A FIELD THAT I CUT THAT IS 5 ACRERS. IT HAS 6 BASEBALL FIELD, 1 BATTING CAGE, 3 BUILDINGS, NUMEROUS BLEACHER, AND AN OUTDOOR BASKETBALL COURT W/BLEACHERS THAT NEED TO BE WEED WACKED UNDER TO KEEP THE GRASS UNDERCONTROL. I SPEND MORE TIME WEED WACKING THAN CUTTING THE GRASS WITH THE MOWER. IS THERE A FAIR WAY TO CHARGE FOR ALL THE WEED WACKING?

I don't have any idea how you guys can get more than $45 per acre??[?] I have some of the higher rates around my area..

I know those of you down south edge, so that would add a considerable amount to the cost?..

I know I'm making alot by my area's standards so I'm not worried about it.

Steve unless your propertys are real close where you can unload and do 5 or 6 in one location with out reloading I think your alittle low. Lot of wear and tear on your truck and equipment (and yourself) chasing small jobs. Its OK to bust your hump but don't spread yourself too thin. Work smart and safe. Your a Pro Steve, in for the long haul. Your quaility of work sets you apart from those other guys. Your clients know the difference and will rather pay alittle more for it. Raise you prices alittle, and take a little more time to do your best job. It takes U.S. Grant or Ben Franklin to make me unload. Remember the story Robert Duvall told Sean Penn in the movie Colors? About the 2 bulls?

Ohh I forgot to say, I only mow two lawns for under $20.. One of them is my grandparents and the other one is a very small 6k sqft property about a mile away from me.

My average rate is $35-$45 per cut and those are about 20-25k sqft properties...

Remeber that the rates on my guidelines are only based on no obstacles and flat land. The rate goes up for every obstacle and amount of time, trimming required..

Like I said before, I'm making about $60-$70/hr mowing so I can't be much below all of you..

The other thing that keeps my prices alittle lower than most of yours is the fact that competition is HUGE around here. There are over 140 companies within a 50 mile radius...

I do alot of advertising in large upscale neighborhoods ($500k+ homes), but most of them do not like a teenager mowing their lawn regardless of how good I make it look and how professional I am..[V]

$18-$20 for 4 to 8k sq. ft. res.. Done in under 10 min. Avg. over $100 per man hr. mowing..

Upscales, generally 2 man crews @ $25-$35 for same size lot always avg. under $100 per man hr. mowing.

Wouldn't touch anything larger. No $$$ in it.
