  • Walk Behind Leaf Vac

Has anybody used the BillyGoat leaf vacs?

I am looking for a better way to pick up leaves in small (1/4 acre) yards that have tons of very large maple trees. I've tried the blow'n'tarp process, and using the bagger on the Snapper mower. But these ways just seem to labor intense.

The BillyGoat I'm looking at is the KD512HC. http://www.billygoat.com/deb-vacumes.cfm It has an 8 bushel bag,,, a vast improvement over my 2.5 bushel bag on the mower.

    Thanks,,,, Cliff

I have used similar vacs in the past and for very small places, nothing beats blowers/rakes and tarps. Even with a vac like this, you will still be unloading the bag a lot. In the end, depending on the lawn and landscaping of the place you are cleaning up, it will end up a toss up time wise.
Jeeps are like women.....much more fun with their TOPS OFF!

I agree w/ Elwood. I think youll be disappointed more often than not in open areas no matter how small.

those are nice for maintaining curb lines and sucking shrubs out but youll find yourself still going back for a rake and tarp in open areas.

Something to think about,,, alot of times 30 or 50 gal trash cans are alot more efficient than a tarp.

I am new to leaf pickup other than blowers, rakes and tarps, but have been reading about DR. leaf and vacuum that you pull behind rider. Any good or bad feedback would be appreciated

          I think I'll stick with blow'n'tarp

          Thanks folks.

I'm glad I asked. May have saved me $900.00.

I suspect I'll just get a top-of-the-line backpack blower to replace my crummy hand-held. The hand-held blower actually works very well. But, to use it for more than a few minutes at a time is back-breaking.

          Thanks again,,,, Cliff

A push mower w/gators & bag is a more effective tool for leaf clean-up than a WB Vac.. This is a little known fact that manufacturers of these units would prefer to be kept Hush Hush. They have limited use as debris removal tools on hard surfaces only.

Little Wonder has jumped on the bandwagon and is sure to fleece a whole new generation of homeowners & Scrubs once the leaves begin to drop.
