Hello -
I just moved into a new property that has an irrigation system. I have no experience and knowledge of irrigation systems. I have been doing my best
to get up to speed.
Basically, the 8 zone irrigation system runs off a well that has a pump above ground. It's a Goulds Plus 3/4 HP pump. Model # J76. All of sudden the pump will not come on when I activate a zone from the control panel in my shed. I hear nothing. I tested the electrical wiring to the pump and I detect current when I activate the zone. When I shut the zone off, I observe an absence of current at the pump. So I don't believe it's an electrical issue here. All breakers are on in my electrical panel.
My assumption is that the pump needs to be replaced. However, before I move fwd with buying a new one I would like to ask if there is anything else I should check that could cause this behavior. Maybe the pump just needs servicing? Or does the fact it does not power-up at all (no humming or anything) indicate it's dead? It's looks pretty old.
Any insight or tips would be appreciated.
