  • Part time lawncare, is pesticide applicator license worth getting?

I do lawns part time on the weekends, is it profitable for a part time business to get into pesticide applicators license? Also, I have basic liablilty insurance for business, do I need more liablilty insurance or not?
    Thanks, Reliable Lawncare

I believe Ohio requires 300,000/300,000/300,000 for the pesticide end of the business.
    Hope this helps.

How much is your license and insurance going to cost you? My GL covers pesticides at the same as landscaping for one million.
How much is your license and insurance you have now?
How much is it going to cost for a sprayer (not a backpack either) and a broadcast spreader? (a good one)
How much have you spent on your equipment you have now?
Now, how long does it take you to do a yard now?
You can apply pesticides in about 1/4 of the time it takes to mow with a higher profit margin.
In my opinion, if I were to do something part time it would be the applications hands down.

Is it profitable? ... part time? ... typical lawn care app business can generate at (least) $1,000 a day in sales (one day) (one man) ... there's your answer and that sales figure is very conservative.
