Question about Eliminating Grass

My partner and I are just getting started in this business. We have a couple customers so far. One is getting ready to sell a house and wants the grass "eliminated" in the backyard and some type of ivy planted. We don't want to damage the soil and keep the ivy from growing, but we need some easy way of killing of what little grass there is.
Someone please help?!?

It works good as long as you don't use the watered down homeowner crap. But be sure to be a licensed chemical applicator.
